This show was our 1st time to experience at the "Fabulous Forum" since MSG acquired our So. Cal landmark. They successfully transformed it into a concert venue strictly. The place quickly filled to capacity as the band descended the ramp to the small stage in the area where Jerry West, Chamberlain, Kareem & Magic secured championships for our LA Lakers. It was promoted as a birthday celebration for Dave Grohl. When he approached the microphone & declared " I bet you thought you were attending a Periphery show tonight didn't you." Confusion was evident everywhere. He then revealed that he had invited some friends to join Periphery on stage. The following three & a half hours showcased phenomenal rock & roll with icons such as Paul Stanley, Slash, Tenacious D, Alice Cooper, Zak Wylde, Lemmy Kilmister & the unparalleled David Lee Roth. They performed a total of thirty one songs, including some new tracks from the Sonic Highways record. The FF classic hits were interspersed with the guests' popular tracks. As an aged rocker like me, this was the concert experience of a lifetime. We were extremely lucky to secure these highly coveted tickets. It was a delight celebrating Dave's birthday with twenty thousand of his companions.
